Shaftesbury High School is a secondary special school, for young people aged between 11-19 who experience a wide range of learning and SEND difficulties. We have around 180 students with disabilities including autism, ADHD, sensory, physical and medical disabilities. We are a maintained local authority school, located in Headstone Lane.
We aim to provide a broad and balanced programme for all our students, aiming to give everyone an equal opportunity in their education, encouraging and developing all to their full potential. We focus on preparing our students for adulthood while developing their self-confidence, tolerance and self-esteem, to learn to respect and show tolerance of all members of the wider community.
We very much welcome local community groups and businesses to help us in our developments and activities, both inside and outside school. We welcome volunteers from the local area who may have a few hours to spare and would like to come in and support our students, whether it be reading with them, help run our in-house coffee bar during lunchtimes or gardening, showing our young people how to maintain our grounds, plant and grow flowers,
